Sydney City Council records

The following are links to documents held in Sydney City Council records:

This document seems to be for the transfer of two lots to John Peters (architect) for the sum of £3,800.00. It would be interesting to see what “certificate of title dated 1st May 1919 registered Volume 2931 Folio 156 and 157 and also all that piece of land situated as aforesaid and being part of the land comprised in certificates of title dated 18th October 1918 registered volume 2884 folio 5191 and 192” and “three quarters of a perch” actually referred to. It is interesting to note that one of the conditions is that only dwarf walls up to 3 feet in height are allowed. Note that Farrell Avenue was originally called Rosebank Avenue.

1926-07-22 transfer of land at Rosebank Avenue B385455.pdf

Seems to be saying that John Peters sells some land to  David Allan for £13,900.00 but retains a right of way over part of it (driveway rights of way on SP14919).

1971 744-71 Palisades Place development proposal

The original proposal for the Palisades was vast, bounded by Premier Lane, Darlinghurst Road, Liverpool Street and Clapton place. Farrell Avenue and Clapton Place would have been widened and Rosebank Street and the northern segment of Kirketon Road closed off.

The approval of the strata plan of Richmond Hall in 1979. On page 25 the city planner acknowledges that ‘this department has no record as to the erection of this building’. But he notes ‘By design and construction the building was erected as residential flats in the early 1920’s and the approved use is being maintained’. This includes the land title (pp. 29-36). Land is part of 5 acres 2 roods 8 perches granted to James Laidley on 19-10-1831 and part of 4 acres 34 perches granted to Ambrose Hallen on 15-10-1839.

These two documents refer to the application to build two balconies on the northern wall of lot 9 with French doors. The plans include specifications for rebuilding the lot 9 sunroom roof and “replace all existing timber posts in sunroom with new to eng. details”. There is no northern corner post shown on the sunroom plans, but there was one originally. The owner removed the corner post to improve the then harbour view.
